After visiting Hong Kong I wanted to visit mainland China as well. I got the chance when traveling to Beijing in March 2014.
Pictures of the city of Beijing. Some with more haze than others.
Unfortunately the haze was quite bad when we visited the infamous Tiananmen Square.
The biggest spectacle certainly was a visit to The Great Wall of China. This impressive construction in such difficult terrain was literally breathtaking.
The famous Forbidden City and the Jingshan Park (Coal Hill) behind the city.
The Summer Palace is a very impressive park in the North of the city. In a vast area with lakes and forests it displays many small pavilions, temples and other sites.
Yonghe Gong is the biggest Buddhist temple in Beijing. Right next to it we visited the Confucian Academy.
